The Oxfordshire Way and passes through some of the loveliest parts of the heart of England's green and pleasant land.
The Oxfordshire Way starts at Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds and passes through quiet villages with ancient churches built from honey coloured limestone. Leaving the Cotswolds, it passes very close to Blenheim Palace, the world heritage site where Winston Churchill was born before crossing the wide Thames valley. It then climbs to the Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with their stunning beech woods and flint and brick buildings, before dropping down to the River Thames at Henley.
The total walking distance of this trail walking holiday is 68 milestaking 5 to 7 days. The walking grade is moderate with two short ascents of around 500ft (150m); one at the beginning when leaving Bourton-on-the-Water and the other near the end when ascending the escarpment onto the Chilterns.
